Split Air Condition

Looking to cool only a certain part of your home? You must go for split system installation. Split AC has a huge application in the commercial, residential and institutional building. In a multi-family housing, the split AC seems to have great application. Use split AC as retrofit add-on to spaces where non-ducted ACs cannot be installed. They are fabulous choice for small apartments or for making room additions. When installing or extending a distribution network is not possible, the ductless AC can be considered. There is no duct work involved here and so the installation is easy. Mini ductless AC stacks up well against other AC systems.

Just like in case of centralized ACs, split AC also has two components, namely, the indoor air-handling unit, outdoor condenser or compressor. Here you will also find conduit housing components like refrigerant tubing, power cable, condenser drain and also suction tubing. The indoor unit is linked well with the outdoor unit. In fact, the kind of AC is a great alternative to traditional or conventional ACs. The best part is that split system AC is cost effective and energy efficient. It will not consume energy or electricity equivalent to centralized AC. The option is a lot flexible than conventional ACs. There is no need to install the ducts or bear high energy costs. A window unit is ugly and so it is avoided by many. Window AC is also expensive and noisy. Split system installation needs a bit more care and caution. The unit should be installed properly such that it functions efficiently. Poor installation work will require frequent maintenance and servicing or repair.

Factors to Consider before installing a Split AC

Before installing an indoor unit, make sure the wall is strong. It must be capable enough to bear the weight of the AC unit. The wall should also be dry and free of dirt and oil. The surrounding of the indoor unit requires around 15 centimeters open space. This will allow a comfortable and efficient air flow. Both above and below the installation, sufficient space must be there. When it comes to the distance between the unit from the ground, it should be around 8 feet or more. This will allow perfect cooling in the space.

Tips to installing Split AC

When you are fixing aluminum bracket of split AC, the bracket must be given proper tilting angle. This allows water to flow efficiently from the pipe. In case, if the tilt is not proper, water cannot move properly from the copper tubes. This may damage the unit completely. The indoor and outdoor unit should necessarily be installed at a spot away from environment exposure directly. Then, the outdoor unit of the split AC should be placed on a dry surface. The outdoor unit of the air conditioner constitutes main components of the AC like a condenser, a compressor and the fan motor. If you fail to do so, the unit will vibrate. This can again cause the breaking of copper tubes. The vibrating unit also makes terrible noise which is extremely distracting.

What should be the distance between the Split AC Outdoor and Indoor Unit?

Well, the distance between the indoor and the outdoor component plays an important role. The coolant flows between the split ac indoor and outdoor unit. If the distance between the indoor and outdoor unit is not proper, it will lead to a loss of energy. The maximum distance cannot exceed 15 meters.

As the split AC does not have ducts, it helps to avoid the loss of energy. Duct losses may account for nearly 30% energy consumption when it comes to area cooling. When compared to a centralized AC, the split AC is easy to install and more flexible in nature.
